Black-capped Vireo survey: Big Bend National Park, Texas

This report documents the 2009 survey of the Black-capped Vireo (Vireo atricapillus) population of the Chisos Mountains, Big Bend National Park, Texas. Goals included evaluation of habitat occupancy in previously surveyed areas and other potentially adequate habitat, using previously established methods, and search intensity comparable to past surveys. Additionally, researchers recorded vocalizations of Black-capped Vireos when possible. About 170 person-hours were spent searching for Black-capped Vireos between 21 and 29 May, 2009, resulting in the location of 36 male and five female individuals.
