Literature Review and Compendium of Research on Pasteurella Pestis

The report is a one-volume reference source to all work done by Ecology and Epizoology Reesarch on the subject of Pasteurella pestis and summarizes all plague findings known from the State of Utah. The report is divided into ten tabbed sections comprising four main divisions. The first tab consists of a general literature reviewing covering the following subjects: Definition, History and Distribution; Etiology; Transmission; Epizootiology; Signs, Pathogenesis and Pathology; Diagnosis; and Control. The major emphasis has been on sylvatic rather than human plague and geographically the western United States is stressed. Seventy-eight references are included. These have been carefully selected to guide readers to coverage of topics not covered fully here as well as to the most recent developments in such areas as diagnosis, epizootiology, control, etc. The second tab "Summary of Utah Plague Investigations" is a compendium of research and disease survey findings conducted in the State of Utah. Chronological listing of all known evidence of plague in the state is included as well as lists of all known vertebrate hosts and fleas which have been found infected or indirectly associated with P. pestis in Utah.
