The ant community of the Dyke Marsh Preserve forest, Fairfax County, Virginia, was sampled using pitfall traps and Berlese extraction of soil-core samples, yielding 3.193 ants of 27 species. .......Lasius subumbratus is south of its previously known distribution on the U.S. East Coast, and Vollenhovia emeryi is an alien myrmicine native to Japan.
