Communications Plan for the Great Lakes Inventory and Monitoring Network (2010-2014)
Gostomski T. 2009. Communications Plan for the Great Lakes Inventory and Monitoring Network (2010-2014). Natural Resource Report. NPS/GLKN/NRR—2009/157. Natural Resource Program Center. Fort Collins, Colorado
The Great Lakes Inventory and Monitoring Program has a diverse set of audiences to whom we must direct very specific, tailored information about who we are, what we do, and why we do it. Communication is not the end product of our monitoring programs, but it is an essential and ongoing process of keeping park staff informed about every facet of our operation, from who will be working in what parks and when, to what we are learning from our monitoring programs and how what we learn can be used to inform park management decisions. This Communications Plan outlines the Great Lakes Inventory and Monitoring Program’s communication goals for the next five years. It identifies our target audiences, and it lays out our objectives and the strategies we will use to achieve those objectives. This plan also articulates our main messages, identifies some of the products and media we will use, outlines the procedures we will use to evaluate the effectiveness of those products, and presents an annual calendar of when products must be distributed so that we are providing the best information and tools in a timely manner to the Network parks we serve, our partners, and the public.
