The vibrations of swimming amphipods were monitired in Montezuma Well, Arizona. Hyalella montezuma, as an adult, produced a more continuous signal than the juvenile of the species. Its main predator, the leech Erpobdella montezuma, showed a significantly greater attack response for playback recordings of juvenile H. montezuma prey.
