The thermoregulatory responses of a Poor-will caught at Pakoon Springs Ranch, especially to low temperature, were investigated. A Poor-will was found to fly at a body temperature as low as 27.40 C, the lowest reported for a bird. The bird was capable of becoming essentially ectothermic under stress. Additional data on respiration rates at a wide range of body temperatures are given. A wider variability in relation to low temperatures is indicated than previously reported.
