This study, which was the implementation phase of a longer-term project, had the following objectives: 1) determine the rattlesnake numbers in public and park residential areas and their recapture rates for management purposes; 2) determine life history information from animals Initiation of Monitoring of attlesnakes at Montezuma Castle and Tu goot National Monuments captured, including sex ratio, age class, reproductive status, and body measurements; 3) train interested park staff in project procedures and assist them with development of interpretive programs based on the research; and 4) produce a first-year report detailing results and management suggestions, and present this information in a program to park staff as well as other interested parks.
