"Project Objectives" taken from publication: Our primary objective was to establish a survey protocol whereby the effectiveness of Wild Turkey removal could be evaluated. Knowing that turkeys are difficult to survey, we also evaluated two existing and ongoing monitoring programs; the Christmas Bird Count (CBC) and the Breeding Bird Survey (BBS). While these surveys do not target turkeys, we evaluated how well they capture the population size and trends in Marin and Sonoma Counties. Finally, a secondary objective of our field observations was to provide information on turkey locations and movement patterns to be used by wildlife managers in planning removal strategies.
