The marine benthic habitats of the Point Reyes Peninsula and north of Duxbury Reef were characterized in this study. Data were collected using a multibeam side-scan SONAR and interferometric bathymetric mapping system. Habitat classification was performed using a supervised image classification toolset which was developed in ArcGIS by the author. The analysis identified 20 distinct seafloor types and revealed a rugged and complex seafloor which included basement and bedrock outcrops, sand and gravel bedforms, and flat sediment covered seabed.
