From a letter addressed to Superintendent Sansing: " The following report represents the culmination of 10 months of work assessing the Point Reyes region as a bald eagle reintroduction site. Based on the information we have gathered we feel Point Reyes National Seashore would be an ideal focal point for reestablishing bald eagles on the north coast of California. While only a few pairs of bald eagles may be supported in the Point Reyes region, dispersal into coastal areas north of the Seashore would be very likely. The combination of suitable habitat within the region, an adequate forage base, low contaminant levels, available funding, and support from the Seashore itself make this location a good release site.”
