This dissertation reports on the distribution of 113 species of hematophagous Diptera from 10 families in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. It also includes a report on the distribution of 38 species of symbiotes in four kingdoms, including 18 species of protozoa, 1 species of chromistan, 10 species of fungi, 3 species of helminths, and 6 species of arthropods.
