An introduction to the climate of Mammoth Cave National Park

This paper presents a summary of the yearly climate of Mammoth Cave National park area, including temperature, precipitation and snowfall. It provides a general description of the weather patterns that occur in Mammoth Cave National Park with information in the form of a narrative report, tables and graphs concerning temperature, precipitation, the duration of the precipitation, and snowfall. The probability of precipitation and temperature is given by month for the period 1935-1968. The duration (in hours) of precipitation is presented by month for 1968. A comparison of precipitation, snowfall and temperature is given (by month) for Bowling Green, KY and Mammoth Cave National Park for the period 1951-1960. Precipitation (by month) is given for the record maximum and record minimum for the year (by month) for the period 1950-1963. Precipitation (by day) at Lock Number 6 on the Green Rive is given for June 1951 and January 1951. And the range of temperatures at two locations (in a valley and in a sink) at 12-inches above the ground and at 60-inches above the ground are shown for the period 11-26 April 1969.
