Water-quality database (version 1.2) and documentation, National Park Service -- Pacific Island Network

Wolff RH. 2007. Water-quality database (version 1.2) and documentation, National Park Service -- Pacific Island Network. U.S. Geological Survey. Reston, Virginia

Historical water-quality data available in and near the National Park Service Pacific Island Network (PACN) park units have been compiled in a relational water-quality database. Data were compiled from three national databases: U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) Legacy STORET (Legacy) and Modern STORET (Modern) databases and the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) National Water Information System (NWIS) database. If maintained, this database can serve as a dynamic tool for the network’s long-term water-quality monitoring and analysis needs. This report provides documentation for understanding the data compilation process, database design, data post-processing activities, as well as giving an overview of the utility of the PACN Water-Quality Database. Basic user instructions for the various components of the databases and a data dictionary are included. User instructions are included with the database by accessing the Help menu from within the database. It is highly recommended that no changes be made to the database unless performed by an advanced user of Microsoft® Access.
