The Virgin River Conservation Management Assessment (VRCMA) is a conservation management strategy developed by Clark County, Nevada, for assessing the resource conditions and identifying appropriate conservation actions for 108 special status species in the upland areas surrounding the Lower Virgin River. The VRCMA is a non-regulatory conservation management plan that provides assessment information useful for the Virgin River Habitat Conservation and Recovery Program (VRHCRP) and other management actions for the upland areas surrounding the Lower Virgin River. Input from resource management agencies (i.e., U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Bureau of Land Management, National Park Service, Nevada Division of Wildlife, and Nevada Division of Forestry) has been incorporated into the development and prioritization process for the conservation actions. Ultimately, the document and associated databases will serve as a “living document” (i.e., regularly updated) for identifying, monitoring, and implementing conservation actions within the VRCMA Boundary (Figure 1-1).
