An inventory and assessment of Kaloko Pond, marsh, and anchialine pools at Kaloko-Honokohau National Historical Park, North Kona, Hawai`i DRAFT

Kaloko fishpond, the adjacent marsh, and 12 anchialine pools within KAHO boundaries were surveyed for temperature, salinity, and biotic components. Management recommendations are given for maintenence & rehabilitation. Three rare taxa formerly reported were not observed in this study: Palaemonella burnsi (shrimp), Neritilia hawaiiensis (snail), and Ostromouvia horii (hydroid). Three new species were observed in this study: an anchialine neritid snail & marsh goby in Kaloko Pond, and a possibly rare nemertean worm in an anchialine pool; these species were found only at night.
