Land protection problems and issues include privately-owned land within the boundary, and the park well site has outstanding mineral rights. The privately-owned 2.5 acres within the park boundary are presently used by the owners, Syretts, for horse trail rides and grazing. The park well site is owned by the Los Angeles and Salt Lake Railroad Co. The alternatives offered to remedy both issues include no action, cooperative agreement through easement negotiation and acquisition. Park managers recommend acquisition of an easement on the first parcel. The second parcel will be monitored for the plan to exercise mineral rights.
