Late glacial and postglacial dacitic volcanism near Lassen peak, California

Pyroclastic and pumice flows have caused the formation of the Lassen Peak dome and other similar domes located nearby. Dacitic rocks make up a narrow north-trending zone about 5 miles long including Lassen Peak which occurred during glacial and postglacial eruptions. Lassen Peak dome rose during the late-glacial time, probably 11,000-12,000 years ago. Other domes along this zone may predate the last glaciation, or be of late-glacial or post-glacial age. Younger pumice flows between Lassen Peak and the northern domes originally erupted at vents which were later intruded on by the Chaos Crags domes.
