Late Holocene diet of Bassariscus astutus in the Grand Canyon, Arizona

Mead JI and Van Devender TR. 1981. Late Holocene diet of Bassariscus astutus in the Grand Canyon, Arizona. Journal of Mammalogy. 62(2):p. 439-442

The diet of ringtails, small nocturnal carnivores, provides information on the animal community in which they live. The diet of modern ringtails was compared with findings from fossil remains in Vulture Cave at the west end of Grand Canyon. The ringtail deposits in this cave are unusual and of considerable scientific interest. Distribution map, table of vertebrate species identified from Vulture Cave Ringtail Refuse, and brief bibliography
