Late quaternary and modern arthropods from the Ajo Mountains of southwestern Arizona

Fossil and modern arthropods were studied in the Ajo Mountains of Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument. Rocky habitats in Alamo Canyon were searched for modern insects, and specimens representing 203 taxa were collected. Five species found were new for Arizona, and six represent significant range extensions. Fossil collections included 54 arthropod taxa, with about 70-85 percent the same as present-day species. Fossil insect remains are described and discussed in relation to the modern collections. Bibliography, 4 figures, 4 tables.
