Analyses of pollen and plant macrofossils from sediment cores indicate complex changes in the vegetation succession from deglaciation about 13,000 years ago to the present. The primary purpose of this study was to deduce the vegetation history during the last 13,000 years of the Yellowstone Lake region. Secondary purposes were 1) to infer general climatic changes during this period, and 2) to provide a standard sequence of dated climatic vegetation changes for correlation with glacial fluctuations.
