Review of decline of native vegetation in Hawaii since the arrival of humans for the purpose of relating changes to decline and extinction of Hawaii's native birds. Fauna and effect on vegetation are discussed for all islands. Another study is expected to be done to accomplish the final objective to compare all causes of the decline and extinction of birds and the relative importance of each cause. Extensive 15 page bibliography.
