Logging in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park

Lambert RS. 1958. Logging in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. A Report to the Superintendent

The report is an attempt to document the ways in which the woodlands now in GRSM were exploited, and to record the nature of the forests before lumbering. The method used was interviews with men who participated in logging, as well as any records of interviews that were available. Terms are defined, logging practices described, and the watersheds that were logged are mapped. Some photos are included.
