This paper reports results of a study begun in 1973 to monitor changes in the Redwood Creek channel. Major changes have resulted from erosion and sedimentation initiated by the combination of timbering with large floods since the mid-1950's. The channel is still mostly wider than before a large flood in 1964, riparian vegetation has not returned to normal, and the excess sediment washed into the channel is shown to have long-term effects on such downstream resources as anadromous fish. Collected data show changes in longitudinal and cross-section profiles over the 23 years, follow movement of streambed sediment along the channel, and serve as baseline data for future changes.
