Effects of particular logging practices can sometimes become apparent only as they accumulate over time or in downstream areas. This evaluation of conditions of the Redwood Creek basin in Redwood National Park, California, notes that many of the detrimental and persistent long-term effects are avoidable through small changes in the construction of logging or other roads. The paper reports results of studies begun in 1978 to determine a sediment budget for Redwood Creek. Illustrations include data tables and graphs, a gully map and photographs, channel cross sections, and more.
