As a source of sediment delivered to Redwood Creek (Redwood National Park, California), fluvial erosion about equals mass movement, according to this research. The authors used detailed erosion inventories and geomorphic mapping to document sediment produced by the various processes, and developed a means of predicting likelihood of streamflow diversion at specific stream crossings. The recent strong winter storms, in combination with inadequate conditions on logging roads have instituted gully erosion on a broad scale, with various detrimental long term effects.
