The major plant communities represented in a transect belt of 7 x 80 miles of the middle Sierra Nevada Mountains were determined and mapped from 1926-1930. A brief description of each plant community is presented. Several Great Basin plants, which appear on the east slope, out of their normal distribution range, are discussed.
