Places Malthodes laticollis LeConte, 1866 (TL: Santa Cruz Island, not endemic) in new genus Frostia. See also LeConte, 1861, 1866b, Fall, 1919. Paper also addresses M. occipitalis LeConte, M fuliginosus var. flavicollis (new variety), and M. fragilis (LeConte) from Great Smoky Mountains National Park, and M. alexanderi from Glacier and Mt. Rainier National Parks. New species M. whittakeria and M sandersoni are described from holotypes from Great Smoky Mountains NP, M. evexus is described from a holotype from Grand Teton NP, and M. piperi and M. bakeri are described from types from Glacier NP.
