Mammals of the Arizona Strip including Grand Canyon National Monument
Hoffmeister DF and Durham FE. 1971. Mammals of the Arizona Strip including Grand Canyon National Monument. Contribution from Museum of Natural History, University of Illinois, Urbana, Technical Series. 11. Northern Arizona Society of Science and Art, Inc. Flagstaff, AZ
Little or no intensive field work in the remote Arizona Strip had been done prior to this study, and the authors investigated both the kinds of mammals occurring in this ecologically diverse area and their relationships to plant communities. After outlining the geology and climate, the report continues with a discussion of plant associations and animal distribution among these. Differentiation and variations within animals species are evident, though not as important as some have suggested. Details are given for many of the listed mammals.
