Mammals of the Katmai National Monument, Alaska
Schiller EL and Rausch R. 1956. Mammals of the Katmai National Monument, Alaska. Arctic. 9(3):191-201
This report results from a biological reconnaissance in Katmai National Monument initiated by the National Park Service as part of a larger research program. Field work was carried out by Schiller in the summers of 1953 and 1954, with taxonomic work performed by Rausch. The authors give an annotated listing of the 16 mammal species they collected and an additional 16 species observed. Mammals were collected by trapping and shooting and were examined for the presence of parasites. Annotations discuss distribution, habitat, food, and parasites. Records of large mammals are based on observations only.
