This article describes a method of creating casts of pocket gopher (Thomomys sp.) tunnels by injecting an expanding polyurethane foam. The procedure was used at Los Alamos National Laboratory, Los Alamos, NM, to map tunnel system configurations as a function of depth and soil type. The system costs and possible applications are discussed.
