This report presents the results of marine mammal surveys conducted 17 April-3 May 1989 and 7-15 April 1990. The counts of sea lions, sea otters, and harbor seals that were done represent the first ever taken in April in the Kenai Fjords area. The 1989 study included the entire coast of Kenai Fjords from Bear Glacier to Yalik Point plus the Pye Islands and Chiswell Islands. In 1990, the study included Harris Bay and McCarty Fjord and two island groups (Chiswell and Pye). Numbers of marine mammals are recorded and, where appropriate, comparisons are given to 1976 data.
