Marking Experiments with Turtles in the Danish West Indies

Schmidt J. 1916. Marking Experiments with Turtles in the Danish West Indies. I Kommission Hos C: A. Reitzel, Bianco Lunos Bogtrykkeri. Copenhagen

1916 report on the status of sea turtles in the Danish West Indies with emphasis on St. Thomas and St. John. "It is a well known fact that the yield of turtle-catching at the present time is far less than in former years. Every report on fishery conditions in the West Indies mentions this, and there is a consensus of opinion that measures must be taken to prevent this important industry from dying out." Did a tagging experiment with green turtles to see where the turtles migrated to. Includes some data on turtle weight and size.
