After a brief introduction to the landforms and forest types in the proposed Mammoth Cave National Park, the author presents a list of the amphibians and reptiles found in the locality. The author notes that the list is the result of work completed in the proposed park from June 1, 1934 to August 31, 1935. The author also notes that all forms listed are represented in the collection held at the park, unless otherwise noted. 63 specimens of toads, frogs, salamanders, lizards, snakes and turtles are listed. The species, genus and family are given along with the common name for the individual; location or habitat is noted; observations made by the author are listed; an occasional local lore is given; and species not personally found by the author but listed from another source is noted. The author gives information on numbers of individuals seen, matings and egg masses found for various species. This checklist of 63 species of reptiles and amphibians in Mammoth Cave National Park follows a one-page description of area geology and vegetation.
