Nine kinds of salamanders, six frogs and toads, six lizards, thirteen snakes, and one turtle have been recorded from the basin of the Rogue River. New locality records made here extend the known ranges of Triturus similans, Rhyacotriton olympicus, Plethodon dunni Plethodon elongatus, Gerrhonotus multi-carinatus scincicauda, Coluber taeniatus taeniatus, and Thamnophis ordinoides elegans. Three subspecies of Thamnophis ordinoides occur within the area, and one of these, T. o. hydrophila, is a new race closely related to T. o. couchii of California. Batrachoseps attenuatus, Plethodon elongatus, Gerrhonotus coeruleus shastensis and Lampropeltis zonata apparently reach their northern limits in this area; Rhyacotriton olympicus and Plethodon dunni, have not been recorded farther south.
