The water chemistry of a multiple-aquifer system underlying Cumberland Island, GA was investigated in order to identify possible saltwater intrusion and to better understand the geochemical dynamics of freshwater/seawater mixing within this setting. Includes introduction to the island environment; study methods (establishment of monitoring wells, water sampling); results (hydrogeology, hydrogeochemistry); and discussion (apparent carbon-14 and other implications, mixing trends, chemical analysis); and summary and conclusions.
