This inventory report describes a helicopter-based count of mountain goats in the Kenai Fjords National Park that was made on 9 and 10 September 1981. A total of 534 goats were observed within the Park and 46 just outside the boundaries. Goats were numerous on the rocky ridges, peaks, and snowfields of the Park and often within 1/4 mile of the ocean. Where possible, goats were classified by kid, yearling, nanny, and billy. Habitat type was recorded for a subsample of the group.
