This is a summary report on the seasonal movement and daily activity patterns of brown bears at Brooks River, with comments on their interactions with visitors. Data for this report were taken from a study on the general population ecology of Brooks River bears that was initiated in 1976. Bears were captured as they traveled along the banks of the Brooks River or along the shores of Naknek Lake near Brooks Camp. Twelve bears were radio-collared during the study. None of the bears retained collars more than two years and most for only a few months. Movement patterns from 1975 through 1979 are described for the individual bears.
