Undesireable bear-human interactions were recorded during the seasons of 1989, 1990, and 1991. Subadults and females with yearlings or older young were involved significantly more than expected, given the composition of bears using the river. Non-habituated adults were involved in incidents significantly less than expected. All food related incidents were observed during summer; none were observed during fall when fish were much more available to bears. Non-habituated females with young were involved in charges and other aggressive approaches significantly more than expected. Wihin those classes of bears which were disproportionately involved in the various incident categories, large proportions of incidents were attributable to a few individuals.
