Discussion of deer browsing on different types of vegetation within Lassen Volcanic National Park with emphasis on problems of overconsumption, deer herd populations, quality and quantity of herbaceous forage, summer/winter range, and ecological damage. To facilitate collection of larger amounts of data and to allow sampling of greater amounts of area, temporary plot methods were used to determine the condition of the deer range. Park areas studied included West Sulphur Spring, Little Hot Springs Valley, Conard Meadows and Vicinity, Twin Meadows and Vicinity, King's Creek Meadows, Paradise Meadows, Hat Lake area, Dersh Meadows, Hat Creek to Badger Flat, Manzanita Chutes, Bailey Creek, and Juniper/Horseshoe Lake area. Includes maps and colored pictures of study areas.
