Includes descriptions and map of 14 habitats, and general information about fish, mammals, reptiles & amphibians, marine invertebrates, and insects. Also describes land ownership and use, and existing problems and conflicts (zoning, urban development, water quality, sedimentation). Appendix A is a list of plant species (gives scientific and common name and indicates whether it is found in each of 12 habitat types). Appendix B is a list of algae found in the Esteros (gives scientific names, grouped under the major algae types). Appendix C is a list of lichen species observed in the Estero de San Antonio area (scientific name and a description of the substrate each species is found on). Appendix D is a list of birds with common and scientific name and seasonal status. Appendix E is a list of water birds and raptors with seasonal status. Appendix F is a list of fish with scientific & common names and brief annotations. Appendix G is a list of mammals with scientific and common names and occurrence (known, probable or possible). Appendix H is a list of reptiles and amphibians with common and scientific names and occurrence. Appendix I is a list of invertebrates with brief annotations. Appendix J is a list of insects expected to inhabit the esteros with scientific names and habitat designation (estuarine vs. marine).
