Adjacent to/nearby BERLABRI. This 1984 Alaska Dept. of Fish and Game report describes a four-year sampling study of the nearshore fishes on the northern and eastern shores of Kotzebue Sound. During the summer months of 1979 through 1982 the authors collected over 20 species of nearshore fishes from more than 70 sampling sites using beach seines, gill nets, a tow net, and a trawl. Shrimp, juvenile chum salmon, smelts, and saffron cod were found to be the most numerous, with whitefishes, ciscos, starry flounders, and smelts found with the greatest frequency. The report gives length distributions for the most common species.
