An aerial survey of nesting bald eagles was conducted in Katmai from 30 June to 3 July 1987. Kukaklek Lake and the Alagnak/Nonvianuk rivers were surveyed for the first time. Thirteen pairs on nests, two pairs not on nests, and 41 roosting eagles were observed in 1987. The number of active nests was down, most notably on Brooks Lake. Results and averages from previous surveys are included.
