This is a preliminary report on nesting habitat of the zone-tailed hawk (Buteo albonotatus) in the Jemez Mountains, NM. Nesting behavior, food habits, and reproductive success of these animals were also noted. Includes data on success of known nests from 1964 to 1990. Two nesting locations are mapped. This report also summarizes existing data about the zone-tailed hawk in the southwest.
