Progress report for a study investigating nesting of loggerhead sea turtles (Caretta caretta) at Cumberland Island National Seashore. Includes introduction to the area; study methods (nightly beach patrols, nest marking, observance of hatchling emergence, nest remains analysis); results (spatial and temporal distribution of loggerhead nests, nest characteristics, fate of nests, successful nests, inundated nests, predated nests); conclusions; and threats to Cumberland Island loggerheads (incidental catch, artificial lighting, dredging).
