The author reports observations of 18 bird species that are rare to the region. Observations were made while conducting studies at Saratoga Springs in Death Valley National Monument between 1965 and 1968. Records list species (common and scientific name), date of observation, number of individuals, and other pertinent information such as presence of nest and young. Specimens of 5 species (semipalmated plover, band-tailed pigeon, parula warbler, American redstart, and dickcissel) were taken and provide data on age, weight, sex, and reproductive status. The author also references earlier observations.
