A subspecies (Cyprinodon nevadensis pectoralis) of the Amargosa pupfish had been reported as confined to Lovell's Spring at Ash Meadows, Nevada. However, fish collected at nearby Scruggs Springs show the numerous pectoral rays characteristic of this subspecies, and two tables present other measurements of samples from both of these springs.
