Archaeological evidence discovered at Craters of the Moon National Monument.

Appling WV, Menning EP, Kehoe TF. 1964. Re: Archaeological evidence discovered at Craters of the Moon National Monument.

Requests for information on archaeological evidence discovered at CRMO (Craters of the Moon National Monument). Three separate documents, each one page. The first, a letter from William V. Appling to John P. Dey gives brief information on the rings near Indian Tunnel and paths through the lava with watering holes marked with stones and sage (as noted by early pioneers). The Second, a letter from Chief Park naturalist, Edgar P. Menning, requesting the help of Professor Earl H. Swanson in identifying some artifacts collected by visitors or early park employees. The third document is taken from the Bureau of American Ethnology Bulletin 173 by Thomas F. Kehoe discussing tipi rings and the Blackfoot people (circa 1960).
