These notes on mating behavior in the very rare Panamint alligator lizard (Gerrhonotus panamintinus) are based on observations of three specimens captured in Grapevine Canyon in the Nelson Mountains (Death Valley National Park). The description primarily concerns the position of the female lizard and one of the males over a period of more than a day during which the male grasped the female's head, whether copulating or not. The authors noted that the lizards were undisturbed by any activity in or around their tank.
