Field observations on life cycle and breeding habits of the tailed frog (Ascaphus truei), the most primitive frog in America. Field observations were made during the summer of 1930 on the east slope of the Olympic Mountains near Lake Cushman. Being highly adapted to swift noisy rivers, tailed frogs have lost their voice and developed a method of internal fertilization. Area of study now part of Olympic National Park, WA.
