Observations on the Chironomidae (Diptera) Inhabiting the Leaf Axils of two Species of Bromeliacae on St John, US Virgin Islands

Looked at two species of bromeliad found on St. John which trap water in their leaves Tillandsia utriculata and Aechmea lingulata. Identified the insect larvae found in the water (Chironomidae, Culicidae, Ceratopogonidae, Psychodidae, Tipulidae and Brachycerans). Noted differences depending on the amount of rainfall in the immediate area.
